John Young English, 1755-1825

England

The twenty-fifth Ottoman sultan, Othman III (Osman) ruled from 1754 to 1757 without much incident. His distinctive style of jewel-embroidered robe appears to have been adopted from his predecessor, Mahmud I, and reappears in John Young’s treatments of the remaining sultans.
