Coil Lamp

2009

Craighton Berman American, born 1979

Chicago-based Craighton Berman combines product design, illustration, and graphic design to direct
attention toward the everyday objects and tasks that structure our lives. For Coil Lamp, Berman reduced the familiar table lamp to its essential form by wrapping a hundred-foot extension cord around a laser-cut clear acrylic base that virtually disappears from view. Berman made the version seen here by hand, but the lamps can also be purchased as a do-it-yourself kit that users coil themselves.
