The Pool of Tears

1962

Vera Berdich American, 1915-2003

United States

Vera Berdich produced the seventh state of The Pool of Tears as she finished developing the key elements of the image; she reworked the rabbits with drypoint, turning them into skulls and categorically transforming the image to make it nightmarish. She also used aquatint to suggest cloudlike forms in the bottom margin.
