This needlework panel presents a playful reinterpretation of velvets woven with cut, uncut, and voided areas. The dark green pattern, an applied design of cut-pile velvet stitched onto the lighter green background, creates the illusion of voided velvet. Similarly, the metallic areas of the pattern, delineated by embroidery, have loops of gilt thread that are attached to the ground fabric, mimicking uncut or looped pile.
