Three Little Trees in the City

Eleanor Coen American, 1916-2010

In 1941 Coen was the first woman to win the James Nelson Raymond Traveling Fellowship at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, which allowed her to study at the School of Fine Arts in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. The most accomplished lithographic colorist of her generation, Coen was known for her urban landscapes and depictions of children, both themes seen in this color lithograph.
