A Collection of Japanese Paintings (Yamato e-zukushi)

In this volume are twenty illustrations of classic Japanese subjects drawn from literature. The illustration on display is a scene from the Tales of Ise, in which the poet Ariwara no Narihira carries away the priestess of Ise Shrine on his back.
