The pattern of this kimono is strongly rectilinear. The rectangular steps of alternating blocks of color relate to dan gawari pattering dating back to the Momoyama period (1568–1600). Groupings of rectangles also form juji (cross) motifs.
Silk, rayon, gold-foil-on-paper-wrapped threads, warp and weft resist-dyed (kasuri) plain weave with supplementary weft of gold-foil-on-paper-wrapped thread; lined with cotton, plain weave
