While largely known for his work constructing the new futuristic capital, Brasilia, Niemeyer worked internationally with much work throughout Europe and Middle Eastern countries. Despite the varying cultures throughout these countries, the varied projects still have strong formal ties. From the National Congress Building at Three Powers Square in Brasilia, to the design of the Mosque in Algiers, to the Cultural Center at Le Havre in France, the designs all possess the curvilinear form and the sinuous lines synonymous with his designs. Working abroad enabled Niemeyer to spread his distinct form of modernism beyond the capital that is synonymous with his name.
