Poéme No. 11: Spring

1950

Onchi Kōshirō Japanese, 1891-1955

Japan

In this print the artist juxtaposed floral lace with a mass of string and a woodblock image of a butterfly. The artist combined representational imagery (the butterfly) and forms made through gesture (the impression of the string) in order to capture both the sights and the energy of spring.
