Clock and Beauty, no. IV

Ito Shinsui Japanese, 1898-1972

Japan

This print is part of a series of four that Itô Shinsui designed for Hotta Watchmakers, each showing a woman and a timepiece from a different era. The earliest is set in the Edo period (1615–1868) while the last print in the series (displayed here) depicts a woman from the 1950s with a trendy hairstyle wearing an equally fashionable full skirt and beret.
