Self-Portrait

1922

Ludwig Meidner German, 1884-1966

Germany

Ludwig Meidner was a seminal figure of German Expressionism who dealt with issues such as life in an urban society and the artist’s interior psychology. After World War I he became more introverted and is known above all for penetrating self-portraits produced as prints, drawings, and oils.
