William Carter American, 1909-1996

United States

Born in Saint Louis, William Carter moved to Chicago as a teenager and studied at the School of the Art Institute. He spent the rest of his life painting in Chicago and was part of the group of African American artists actively involved with the South Side Community Art Center.
