Vincennes Porcelain Manufactory French, founded 1740 (known as Sevres from 1756) Model by: Louis Antoine Fournier (possibly) French, active c. 1746-52
Vincennes
White porcelain figures covered with transparent glaze were the first examples of sculpture to emerge from Vincennes. Unusual for its large scale, this figure is a sculptural tour de force. The river god’s taut musculature, expressive limbs, and windblown hair are modeled with extraordinary vigor.
