John Steuart Curry American, 1897-1946
United States
Like fellow Regionalists Grant Wood and Thomas Hart Benton, John Steuart Curry received his artistic training at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is particularly well known for paintings of his home state of Kansas, as well as for his murals and lithographs, in which he sought to capture the drama of midwestern life, from the violence of nature to the struggles of humanity.
